Vanessa

Vanessa’s full name is Vanessa Karen White and she was born on the 30 th of October, 1989.

Vanessa has part-Filipina ancestry and grew up in Yeovil, Somerset.

Vanessa attended the world-famous Sylvia Young theatre school. She had applied for the Brit School, home of many future pop stars but was sadly turned down.

Whilst growing up, Vanessa was totally dedicated to music. Even as a child she was a star, having played the young Nala in the West End production of The Lion King as well as one of the King’s daughters in The King and I for two whole years!

The rest of the band refer to Vanessa as their ‘Christina Aguilera’ as just like the Beautiful singer she has a very impressive vocal range.

During The Saturday’s 2009 UK tour, Vanessa tripped on a cable whilst backstage and tore a ligament in her ankle! This caused her to miss a large section of that night’s show.

For the next few performances after this, she could only appear on stage by sitting on a bar stool, as she was unable to partake in the girls’ fast-paced dance routines.

On the band’s first album Chasing Lights, Vanessa is the only member of the band to have a solo in every song.

Vanessa took part in ITV’s 2010 show Popstar to Operastar. Sadly the public and the judges did not take to her and she was the second contestant to be eliminated.

Vanessa was the guest star for a magic trick on Stephen Mulhearn’s 2010 show Magic Numbers. She was placed into a box in such a way that it looked like only her head, hands and feet were there!
